Critical Reflection

After weeks of preparation and work, the showcase was a great event to give recognition to those the teams who had put in tremendous efforts in this module. Even then, it was also a good place for those who were not nominated to present to show what they have done or learnt from this module.  Other than the organizing committee who put in their personal time to plan and execute this event smoothly, the presenting teams and audiences were also amazing with every presenter placing what they have learnt into good use, communicating and engaging with the cohort. Lessons on how to use eye contact, body movements and voice tones were put to good use.  Every of the videos shown were relate-able and from there, I learnt more about the different difficulties that my peers have faced in their workplace. Not only that, they tips given in the training videos were easy to remember and I thought they would be useful in our future workplaces. All in all, the showcase was a great experience

Interpersonal Communication Problem

One of my most recent encounter with interpersonal communication problems happened a month ago at my workplace with my boss. Now don't get me wrong, she is a nice person and I generally work very well with her but it was just that particular incident in the process of getting work done that day. So the following was what happened.  One month ago, some client forms had to be submitted and I was tasked to do it as my boss was overseas. However before I could submit them, I had to date them. Therefore, a set of instructions were sent to me via message and it was as follows: "Must help date each form some on 22nd some 21st and some on 23rd but 23rd ones must only submit on 23rd afternoon k. Keep in touch when you come in." As you can see from the text, there were a lot of dates and it was rather confusing. So on the day I went to the office, I did not know which dates she wanted on each form and as she was not contactable, I went to consult with other colleagues.

READY FOR COMMENTS

To: Ms Lim Lay Hoon  From: Marcus Tan Date: 23rd January 2018 Subject: Self-introduction Dear Ms Lim, It was nice meeting you in class last Tuesday, this would be the introductory email of myself that you have requested for. I graduated from Singapore Polytechnic in 2014 with a Diploma in Tourism and Resort Management. And it was in the same school i did my internship with Chan Brothers Singapore for 6 months. I have started working since young so I have a bit of experience everywhere, be it in retail, food and beverage, hotels, events, government and office. However, events is still the industry i like the most because it allows my work environment to be constantly changing and more vibrant. That is why I chose hospitality business. I personally feel that while I can communicate well with others verbally, I tend to have troubles writing emails and letters. As a result, I often take a longer time to create my content. I hope to improve on that and better develop
